Interview Questions & Answers On Salesforce Languages & Navigations

Introduction

Salesforce supports several languages for the user interface, and you can easily change them according to your business needs since it depends on your web interface. Once you set the language, all the associated functionalities will be showcased directly in the chosen language, like Salesforce accounts, dashboards, contacts, etc., of the user interface. Through this list of most frequently asked Salesforce interview questions and answers, test yourself for the different browsers, devices, languages,  and accessibility standards supported by Salesforce and how to set or change default language settings.

Q1. How Salesforce Supported Browsers and Devices, Languages, and Accessibility Standards?

Ans:

Support Browsers and Devices: Salesforce-supported browsers and devices depend on whether the Salesforce Classic or Salesforce Lightning Experience.

Salesforce Language Support: Learn about languages supported by Salesforce and understand the differences between their fully supported end-user languages and the platform. Check the UI languages available in each Salesforce cloud and review critical limitations for Right-To-Left (RTL) languages in Salesforce.

Accessibility Standards: Learn about the standards followed by Salesforce to develop applications with accessibility in mind.

Q2. Explain Page Headers in Accessibility Standards?

Ans: Page Header includes:

  • Skip Link
  • Global Search Field
  • Buttons to Navigate and Manage Favorites
  • Quick Create Menu for Global Actions
  • Context Help Menu to Launch Panels
  • Setup Menu
  • Launch the Notification Button Panel
  • User profile button to launch panel

Q3. What are The Recommendations and Requirements For All Browsers?

Ans: The following recommendations and requirements apply to all browsers, regardless of Salesforce Classic or Lightning Experience.

  • Enable JavaScript, cookies, and TLS 1.2 on all browsers. Enable TLS 1.1 if TLS 1.2 is not available. Browsers unable to support TLS 1.1 or TLS 1.2 cannot access Salesforce after disabling TLS 1.0. Deactivation is already happening in sandbox organizations and will end in production organizations on July 22, 2017, such as when using the email composer in Lightning Experience.
  • Few features use iframes to work in Lightning Experience, so proper browser security settings are required for iframe to load correctly. Follow the browser's instructions to enable iframes and third-party cookies.
  • For - Internet Explorer, set the Launch programs and files in the IFRAME security setting to Enable or Prompt. For Safari and Chrome, Salesforce recommends changing the privacy settings to allow all cookies.
  • The lowest screen resolution required to support all Salesforce features is 1024 x 768.
  • The three region and pinned region templates are designed for Lightning console apps. It has a main area and two sidebars with a fixed proportional width. Salesforce elements like Report Builder and Page Layout Editor may not display appropriately on low-screen resolutions.
  • The width of the central area is 50%, and the width of the side areas is 25êch. The larger screen width is required to display the three-region template correctly. 3-zone templates may not display appropriately on specific low-resolution devices or monitors.
  • 4K displays can cause problems with components programmed with screen percentages in mind.
  • Resizing the window and then refreshing it solves most problems.
  • Moving a window from a 4K display to a 1080p or 1440p production may cause unwanted behavior or resizing issues.
  • For Mac OS users using Apple Safari or Chrome, ensure that the Show Scrollbars preference is - "Always."
  • Some third-party browser plugins and extensions can interfere with Chatter functionality. Whenever Chatter malfunctions or has inconsistent behavior, turn off browser plugins and extensions and try again.

Q4. What are The Things to Consider For Microsoft Edge and Edge Chromium?

Ans:

  • Salesforce supports the latest stable version of Microsoft Edge Chromium for Salesforce Classic and Salesforce Lightning Experience.
  • Salesforce supports Microsoft Edge Chromium on Windows only. Internet Explorer compatibility mode is not supported.

Q5. What are The Things to Consider For Apple Safari?

Ans: Salesforce backs the latest stable version of Apple Safari. Apply all Apple software updates.

Add an image after this line, page 34.

Q6. What are The Things to Consider for Mozilla Firefox?

Ans: Salesforce goes all out to test and support the latest version of Firefox. However, Salesforce Lightning Experience currently does not support private browsing.

Q7. What are The Things to Consider For Google Chrome?

Ans: Salesforce supports the current stable version of Google Chrome, and you must turn off the setting for restoring the features because the setting “Use Strict Site Isolation” in Google Chrome might cause a few Salesforce functionalities not to work.

Q8. What are The Things To Remember While Using Salesforce With Microsoft Internet Explorer?

Ans: The following things to always keep in mind while using Salesforce:

 1. Salesforce Lightning Experience can exceed IE11 data storage limits and cause performance issues. When you exceed the limit, you'll see a message:

"Do you want to allow force.com to use additional storage space on your computer?".

Another option is to set a 30MB storage limit by following these steps:

  • Under Settings, choose - Internet Options.
  • Under the Browsing History section ->, click Settings on the General tab.
  • On the Cache and Database tab, increase the Notify Me when a Salesforce website's cache or database limit exceeds 30 MB.
  • Click OK.

2. Before December 31, 2022, IE11 on Windows 8 and 8.1 is only supported on touch-enabled laptops with standard keyboard and mouse input. Mobile devices and tablets that rely primarily on touch are not supported.

3. If you're utilizing Microsoft® Internet Explorer® versions 9-10, you're redirected to Salesforce even if your preferences are set to Lightning Experience.

4. Internet Explorer compatibility mode is not supported.

5. Changing browser compatibility parsing mode, such as using the X-UA-Compatibility header, is not supported.

6. Salesforce Optimizer, Salesforce Lightning Configuration Converter, and Lightning Experience Release Check are not supported in IE11.

7. My Domain Settings page is not supported in IE11.

8. Support for Internet Explorer 11 in Lightning Experience ended on December 31, 2020.

9. Before that, Internet Explorer 11 was not explicitly supported for:

  • Experience Builder
  • Developer Console
  • Flow Builder
  • Salesforce CPQ and Billing
  • Floating. Lightning Report Builder Header
  • Drag the File to Feed Posts in Lightning Experience and Drag the File to Feed Comments in Lightning Experience and Classic.

Q9. What are The Different Levels Of Languages Supported In Salesforce?

Ans: Salesforce Service Cloud offers three language support levels: Fully supported, End-user, and Platform-only.

  • With fully supported languages, Salesforce features and user interface (UI) text appear in your chosen language.
  • End User Language allows individual users to choose a language apart from the company's default language for the end-user interface.
  • If Salesforce does not provide out-of-the-box translations, use platform-specific languages to localize apps and custom functionality built on the Salesforce service cloud platform.

A two-letter language code identifies each language, like en.for languages that vary by location, that uses a 5-character locale code. For example- en_AU.

In addition to language support for Salesforce, localize the organization. Can translate anything from custom picklist values to custom fields so that a global user can use his Salesforce in his language. Another option is to use the Translation Workbench to translate text customizations and override translations from labels and managed packages.

Another option is to rename tabs and fields in Salesforce; if the custom app uses only standard Salesforce custom object tabs and fields, it is possible to translate them.

1. Fully Supported Languages: On the setup page, change the language of all features, together with help, to one of the following fully supported languages.

  • Enter the organization information in the Quick Find box,
  • Select Company Information,
  • Then select Edit.
  • In the Default Language field, select the desired language and click Save.

Some clouds and features support a subset of these languages in their user interfaces. See User Interface Language Support in the Salesforce service cloud help for more information.

  • Chinese (Traditional): zh_TW
  • Danish: da
  • Dutch: nl_NL
  • English: en_US

2. End User Languages: End User Languages are helpful when a multilingual organization or partner speaks languages other than the company's default language. Salesforce provides translated labels for standard objects and pages for end-user languages, except Admin Pages, Setup, and Help. Some clouds and features support a subset of these languages in their user interfaces. For more information, see UI Language Support in Salesforce Help.

End User Languages are for the end user's personal use only. Do not use the end user's language for the company's language. Selecting an end-user language displays untranslated labels and Salesforce Help in English. Salesforce does not provide this support.

End-user languages include:

  • Arabic: ar
  • Bulgarian: bg
  • Croatian: hr
  • Czech: cs
  • English (UK): en_GB

3. Platform-Only Languages: Translating different items like custom labels, objects, and field names is possible while renaming most standard objects, labels, and fields. Informational and caption texts that are not fields are difficult to translate. In situations where Salesforce does not provide default translations, use platform-only languages to localize applications and custom functionality built on the Salesforce platform.

Platform-specific languages are available wherever an application can choose a language. Sometimes, to the end-user or fully supported language. However, all standard Salesforce labels get set to English by default only for platform-specific languages.

For a platform-only language, default object and field labels are by default set to English, with the following exceptions:

  • Dutch (Belgium) defaults to Dutch.
  • English (Australia), English (India), English (Malaysia), and English (Philippines) default to English (UK).
  • French (Belgium), French (Canada), French (Luxembourg), and French (Switzerland) default to French.
  • German (Austria), German (Belgium), German (Luxembourg), and German (Switzerland) default to German.
  • Italian (Switzerland) defaults to Italian.

Q10. What is Right-to-Left (RTL) Language Support?

Ans: Right-to-left (RTL) language makes the user feel approachable. Salesforce assists Arabic and Hebrew as final-user languages and Urdu as a platform language.

  • Salesforce Lightning Experience and Experience Builder websites, the Right To Left language layout is the default layout for right-to-left languages and has some critical limitations.
  • Salesforce Classic and Experience Cloud Sites with Tabs + Visualforce have limited RTL language support for some features.
  • Salesforce Lightning Experience and Experience Builder sites support Arabic and Hebrew as end-user languages and Urdu as platform languages.
  • The right-to-left Language layout for Lightning Experience and Experience Builder sites focuses on standard use cases for joint Sales and Service Cloud objects and conventional reports and control panels.
  • The RTL layout supports UI mirroring and has UI and text alignment suitable for directional languages. It is the default layout for right-to-left languages in the Lightning Experience and Experience Builder site.
  • Salesforce Classic does not fully support right-to-left languages, so many features do not display as expected. Salesforce Classic and Experience Cloud sites using Salesforce Tabs and Visualforce have limited support for some features of these right-to-left languages. There are no plans to upgrade the features supported by Salesforce Classic.

Q11. What is User Interface Language Support?

Ans: Understand the user interface (UI) languages available in the cloud. If the company's default language or the user's language is unavailable in the UI, the language will be set to English (United States) by default.

If language is unavailable in the user interface, the language will default to English (United States).

Q12. What are Accessibility Standards?

Ans: Salesforce strives to provide on-demand business applications accessible to everyone, including users of assistive devices such as speech recognition software and screen readers.

  • Reporting detailed information for tables using Grid data type
  • Correct reading of menu items in drop-down lists
  • Focus management

We recommend using Salesforce Lightning Experience on the desktop for a screen reader. Lightning Experience follows globally known best practices in Section 508 of the WCAG 2.0 Level AA to achieve universal design goals as much as possible.

Q13. Explain Navigation Mode and Interaction Mode?

Ans: This mode is the default mode for most screen readers. In this mode, use the screen reader's cursor keys to move through the page elements, element by element, and use the screen reader's shortcuts to jump between certain elements. Key presses address the screen reader, not the underlying page. For example, pressing h in NVDA browse mode will lead to the next heading.

In this mode, key presses address the page below instead of the screen reader. For example, while in the text input, when the H key is hit, in NVDA, the focus mode will type "H" into the text input. Press the escape key to return to navigation mode.

Q14. What are Examples of Keyboard Navigation Techniques?

Ans: Here are some examples of keyboard navigation techniques:

  • The tab key navigates to links and controls.
  • The spacebar changes the button state.
  • The spacebar opens menus.
  • Arrow keys turn menu items on or off.
  • Arrow keys navigate between tabs in a tab set.

Q15. What are Skip Links?

Ans: There are two links at the top of each page:

  1. Jump to Navigation and
  2. Jump to Main Content.
  • Jump to Navigation focuses on the navigation area after the page header. The navigation section begins with the Apps launcher button that launches the app picker. In most Salesforce apps, an application launcher button is Salesforce by navigation controls that provide access to crucial Salesforce objects such as Accounts and Opportunities. In console apps, the app launcher button is Salesforce by links to Salesforce objects, a menu for selecting different object types, and a set of open tabs.
  • Jump to Main Content moves focus to the current page's content, bypassing the generic links at the top of each page. For example, when Chatter gets opened, it will be placed at the top of the feed. This Link skips both the page header and navigation elements.

Q16. What is The Navigation Region in Salesforce?

Ans: After the header area is the navigation area of the page. This section starts with the App Launcher button. Clicking this button opens a quick view of the app launcher with a See All Link. Use the See all Link to open the full app launcher dialog containing the apps configured by the admin. Use this dialog to switch the best Salesforce apps. Use the App Launcher to access Salesforce objects in your organization.

Default App Navigation

After the app launcher, it’s the main navigation element for the current Salesforce app. An application navigation item can be a combination of links to any item associated with the Lightning Pages, Visualforce Pages, Lightning Components, and Object Home Page Menus, such as: using these menus to access the most recently used records for that object type and create records for that object type.

Lightning Console App Navigation

In Salesforce Lightning Console apps, after the app launcher, you'll see a link to the object's home page or a Select link if no object is selected. The object menu is called Show Navigation Menu. You can use these controls to search for records of specific object types. After these controls are open, workspace tabs use the arrow keys to move between Salesforce tabs. Each tab contains an action menu button and a close button.
