Each standard and custom object in salesforce can contain both standard and custom fields as well. The fields in salesforce are like columns of a database table which can hold specific types of data. Every field has a datatype.A data type indicates what kind of information the field stores. Supports a bunch of data types for example .

Check Box, Number, Text, Picklist, Multipicklist, Formula, Text Area and many more.
