Precision is an evaluation measure which is the combination of relevant as well as retrieved items over the total number of retrieved results. It is basically used when the case of false positive prediction is high. In Named Entity Recognition, when the model predicts [John] and [Harry] but the actual requirement was [John Harry] then the precision is considered zero as it has to be averaged over all the predicted entities which are false.
