What must I do now that I've found a bogus non verified Instagram account with over a 1000 followers using my email?
What can a user do if they are being scammed by a fake account? How can the user stop the scammer from mis-using their account?While trying to find the ways to safeguard my account I saw a post saying- These accounts are usually set to anonymous and contain little visible information. Even so, in this digital age, every online action leaves a digital footprint. When this digital footprint hasn't been expertly masked and/or the perpetrator gets sloppy covering their tracks, we can trace this digital footprint.

Usually bots create Instagram accounts to sell likes and followers, you can file a complaint on security@mail.instagram.com. Also, if your email is used for this account, use the Forgot Password functionality to receive a reset password link, reset it, and delete the account.
Or take over it and repurpose it. But I don't believe your 1000 bot-followers would be interested in your legit content…
