File permissions define how and upto what level a user can access files/folders. In most of the OS including linux there are 3 types of file permissions available.
Read - The permission is only to “read” a file by any user/group. This means that any file with this level of permission can only be viewed but any alteration will not be available.
Write - Via this a user/group of user’s/groups can open a file and make changes i.e. “write” and save it.
Execute - Permission to execute file in shell via code etc. basically used in bash script code file etc.
