Partitioning is required to isolate an entire hard disk /storage space to be used for specific needs and requirements.

Like, on the same storage space we can use some part for data storage and some for swap storage. Hence, partitioning is very important to use the available storage space effectively. Linux has its own inbuilt tool like - fdisk, parted etc. to execute different partitioning within the OS itself.
