In the context of AWS, you can troubleshoot and resolve the issue of authentication issue with AWS by using Terraform’s AWS provider Configuration by using several steps which are given below:-
Checking credentials of AWS
Try to ensure that the AWS access key ID and secret access key in your terraform Configuration are correct and correspond to a particular IAM user.
Verifying AWS provider Configuration
Try to check the Configuration of the terraform Configuration file so that you can ensure that the AWS provider block is correctly defined and it should also include the correct profile, regions, and Version.
Here is the example given:-
Provider “aws” {
Region = “us-west-2”
Profile = “default”
Version = “~> 3.0”
}
Debugging with environment variables
Export AWS_ACCESS_KEY_ID=”your_access_key”
Export AWS_SECRET_ACCESS_KEY=”your_secret_key”
Terraform init
Terraform apply
Test terraform commands
You can run “terraform init” and “terraform plan” for the purpose of seeing if the authentication issue persists.
Review IAM policies
Ensure that the IAM user or role associated with the credentials has the appropriate permissions for performing the terraform actions that are specified in your Configuration.
