If you have a lot of records, consider using SOQL filtering instead of contains() in Apex:List filteredEmployees = [ SELECT Id, Name, Department__c FROM Employee__c WHERE Department__c IN electedDepartments ];This is more efficient because it lets Salesforce handle filtering at the database level grow a garden.
