What are the common limits that salesforce data loaders can impose in data loading operations?

In the context of Salesforce, here are the points given:-

Common limits or restrictions of salesforce data loader

Batch size limit

The data loader can limit the number of records that can be processed in q single batch. The default batch size is 200 records for inserting, updating, and deleting.

API call limit

Data loader can use salesforce API for data operations and salesforce can impose API call limit per 24-hour period.

Advice on handling limits effectively

Optimization of batch size

You can adjust the batch size based on the complexity of operations and API call limit to ensure efficient processing without hitting the API limit prematurely.

Schedule jobs wisely

You can schedule data-loading jobs during off-peak hours to avoid contention for salesforce resources and to maximize the available API call limit.

Best practices for optimizing data loading

Use bulk API

Data loader can support salesforce Bulk API, which is optimized for processing large volumes of data efficiently.

Enable parallel processing

When you perform data loading tasks, enable parallel processing in the data loader setting to utilize available system resources effectively and speed up data processing.

Here is an example given of Java programming language which can configure and run salesforce data loader operations with q specified batch size by using the data loader API:-

Import com.sforce.async.*;
Import java.io.*;
Import java.util.ArrayList;
Import java.util.List;

Public class DataLoaderExample {
    Public static void main(String[] args) {
        // Set Salesforce credentials
        String username = “your_username”;
        String password = “your_password”;
        String authEndpoint = https://login.salesforce.com/services/Soap/u/47.0;
        // Initialize Salesforce connection
        BulkConnection connection = SalesforceConnectionUtil.getBulkConnection(username, password, authEndpoint);
        // Set batch size and concurrency mode
        Int batchSize = 500;
        ConcurrencyMode concurrencyMode = ConcurrencyMode.Parallel;
        // Specify CSV file paths
        String csvDataFilePath = “path/to/your/sobjects.csv”;
        String csvConfigFilePath = “path/to/your/config.csv”;
        // Create job and batch info
        JobInfo jobInfo = SalesforceConnectionUtil.createJob(connection, “Insert”, “Account”);
        BatchInfo batchInfo = SalesforceConnectionUtil.createBatch(connection, jobInfo, csvDataFilePath, csvConfigFilePath, batchSize, concurrencyMode);
        // Monitor batch progress
        SalesforceConnectionUtil.monitorBatch(connection, jobInfo, batchInfo);
    }
}

Class SalesforceConnectionUtil {
    Public static BulkConnection getBulkConnection(String username, String password, String authEndpoint) {
        // Implement Salesforce connection logic here (authentication, session creation, etc.)
        // Return BulkConnection object
        Return null;
    }
    Public static JobInfo createJob(BulkConnection connection, String operation, String objectName) {
        // Implement job creation logic using BulkConnection
        // Return JobInfo object
        Return null;
    }
    Public static BatchInfo createBatch(BulkConnection connection, JobInfo jobInfo, String csvDataFilePath, String csvConfigFilePath, int batchSize, ConcurrencyMode concurrencyMode) {
        // Implement batch creation logic using BulkConnection
        // Return BatchInfo object
        Return null;
    }
    Public static void monitorBatch(BulkConnection connection, JobInfo jobInfo, BatchInfo batchInfo) {
        // Implement batch monitoring logic using BulkConnection
        // Print batch status and progress
    }
}
Here is the Python based example given below:-
From salesforce_bulk import SalesforceBulk
Import csv

# Set Salesforce credentials
Username = ‘your_username’
Password = ‘your_password’
Security_token = ‘your_security_token’
Sandbox = False # Set to True if using a Salesforce sandbox environment
# Initialize SalesforceBulk object
Bulk = SalesforceBulk(username=username, password=password, security_token=security_token, sandbox=sandbox)
# Set batch size and concurrency mode
Batch_size = 500
Concurrency_mode = ‘Parallel’
# Specify CSV file paths
Data_csv_path = ‘path/to/your/sobjects.csv’
Config_csv_path = ‘path/to/your/config.csv’
# Read data CSV file
Data_records = []
With open(data_csv_path, ‘r’) as data_file:
    Csv_reader = csv.DictReader(data_file)
    For row in csv_reader:
        Data_records.append(row)
# Create job and batch
Job_id = bulk.create_insert_job(“Account”)
Batch_id = bulk.post_bulk_batch(job_id, data_records, batch_size=batch_size, concurrency=concurrency_mode)
# Monitor batch progress
While not bulk.is_batch_done(job_id, batch_id):
    # Implement logic to monitor batch progress
    Pass
# Get batch result
Batch_result = bulk.get_batch_result(job_id, batch_id)
# Process batch result
For result_row in batch_result:
    # Implement logic to process batch result
    Pass
