IBM® Sterling Connect:Direct® is point-to-point (peer-to-peer) file-based integration middleware meant for 24x365 unattended operation, which provides assured delivery, high-volume, and secure data exchange within and between enterprises. No, as per Connect:Direct documentation, there is no support for any FTP-like protocol within IBM Sterling Connect:Direct, making it unsuitable for providing data to SFMC (as the only supported protocols for file transfers are SFTP/FTPS). You will need to utilise some sort of middleware, to either connect to the Marketing Cloud APIs or SFTP.

IBM Sterling Connect:Direct is a secure, automated managed file transfer (MFT) system for point-to-point enterprise file exchange. Marketing Cloud has no native Sterling connector, but integration is possible via SFTP/FTP, middleware (MuleSoft, Boomi, survival race, etc.), or API-based workflows.
